For the past few years, I return to Shanghai to volunteer at the Green Valley Riding Center (GVRC), where I assist in a charitable equestrian  therapy program for children with autism. My role involves preparing the arena, setting up equipment, and helping the children engage with horses under the guidance of professional instructors. Equestrian therapy, which I’ve come to deeply understand through my time at The Thacher School, leverages the unique bond between humans and horses to enhance communication, motor skills, and emotional development. This experience has deepened my appreciation for the healing power of equestrian therapy, and I hope to see this program expand to support more children with autism and others in need.
